Financial Support

Support Programs for graduate students:

Fellowships for graduate students:

  • Fellowships provide financial support for graduate students to enhance their professional development and develop into independent scholars with their own unique research agendas. Certain kinds of support are awarded on the basis of academic merit, and others are granted on the basis of need.
    • These fellowships include Regent’s Fellowships and Chancellor’s Fellowships; a limited number of these fellowships are awarded to first-year students based on nominations from the programs the students apply to, at the point of admission.
    • Additionally, newly admitted students may be awarded the prestigious Eugene Cota-Robles Fellowship. These state-funded, merit-based fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to first-year graduate students who have overcome significant social or educational obstacles to achieve a college education, and whose backgrounds equip them to contribute to intellectual diversity among the graduate student population. The Cota-Robles fellowship provides stipends and covers in-state fees, and will result in a full five-year total support package.
  • Tuition Fellowships may be offered by graduate programs for non-resident students. These fellowships may cover part or all of the non-resident tuition for one or multiple academic years.
